Relations To Global Fields Not Necessary

A Reader Writes...
Is it true that FileMaker can access the values from a global field in one table from another table, without having to set up a relationship between them?

You will need to have the table in your relationship graph but you don’t have to have it related to anything.

Unless you are doing IWP, it is true that you don’t need a relationship. I found that in IWP design, a constant relationship is needed to pass the global data (but I haven’t tested this with FileMaker 9). You will notice that when you do IWP, some of the graphics you have in unrelated global fields might not appear.
