SNAPSHOT: FMP 9 And The Send Link Feature
This is an odd little feature added in FileMaker 9 but it can definitely be useful. It can be found under the File menu of a FileMaker database that is being shared / hosted (either peer to peer of via FileMaker Server). When executed, the Send Link feature will generate an email using your email client that contains the URL information to the hosted database. Using this information, you can (granted you have access privileges) open the FileMaker file with the Open Remote command.
It is interesting to note that FileMaker doesn't send the email. Good thinking on their part because this gives the person sending the email an opportunity to add the account name, password and any other information to the email before it goes out!
Here you can see the email generated when I used the Send Link feature from my hosted afilemakeraffliction database.
