WHAT TYPE OF SOLUTION ARE YOU PLANNING?
One way to classify a solution selling category is to think about the general invoice amount. You can sell a small number of solutions at a very high price and earn $100,000 a year. You can sell a large quantity of solutions at a lower price and earn $100,000 a year. The question is could you sell just the right number of copies at just the right price and generate $150,000 a year?
A large solution ( like an invoice / inventory control solution ) can bring in a large dollar amount for each sale. You may also get large consulting invoices to customize this large solution to a clients particular needs. You will be looking to only catch the “big” fish, based upon the large purchase price requirement for your solution.
Small everyday solutions ( like an employee database ) can be purchased by almost any company. You may get smaller consulting invoices from this type of solution.
Small niche solutions ( like a nonprofit membership database ) can be customized to a particular business. The word of mouth for these projects can be very nice. Also the clients may come to you for the solution and not even be familiar with FileMaker. They are investing in FileMaker to take advantage of your product and experience in their particular niche market.
