Preserving FileMaker Dictionaries After FMP6 Conversion

I hadn’t had this come up until doing a FileMaker 6 solution conversion for a client over the weekend. Unless you take pro-active action, a user will likely loose their custom dictionary information after converting from FileMaker 6. If you have already uninstalled FileMaker 6, it is too late but if you have not ...

To keep what might be a very valuable spell check dictionary from a users FileMaker 6 station, move the existing custom user dictionary to the new FileMaker folder. Likely this will be your FileMaker 10 folder but this is true for all post FileMaker 6 versions of FileMaker. After moving the file, open it and specify that you want to use it as your custom dictionary.
