LINK OF THE WEEK
I have to admit that I’m one of those FileMaker developers that finds calendars to be exceptionally boring. I think some developers dive into this area simply because they have a fascination with manipulating array data with a real world benefit. Yes, some of us get jazzed by experimenting with techniques and then look for some way to apply them in the real world.

Calendars are very real world and my opinions are probably just a rationalization that I don’t particularly like diving into arrays this deep. I’d be just as happy if FileMaker would implement some core calendar functionality, as they recently have done with charts. Alas, I don’t think that day will ever happen.

The products from SeedCode are obviously a fantastic option for FileMaker developers wanting / needing calendar integration. However, if you want to explore FileMaker 11 portal filtering options deeply, here is a link from the Support Group blog that allows you to do so and has a built in “business case” calendar rationalization. I didn’t dive into it myself but it looks quite promising on the surface!
