There may be times were you need a portal to perform an action with your database but you don’t want to show a portal on a layout. Typically, this is when you have a button on the layout that calls upon a script that needs to use a portal. So your options in such a situation normally require ...
- portal on a different layout ( script goes there, does it's thing and comes back )
- portal off to the far right of the current layout ( script does the same as above )
- portal is on the layout but hidden blending it into the background of the layout
So the next set of discussions we have on portals is the various ways to hide them and what you would do with a hidden portal.
