Here you can see a break down of the different layout parts but I’ve come across another way to think of the layout parts. It was in the FileMaker 9 FTS training guide and that pointed to something in the FileMaker 9 Help system. A lot of people don’t look to the FileMaker 9 help system for information for illumination and that is a shame, it is quite good in many areas.
The article says that layout parts can be broken down into the three classes of once per record, only at the top and before / after groups. If you get the chance, do a search in FileMaker help for layout parts and take a look at the working with layout parts article. By the way, I highly recommend the FileMaker FTS guide for those of you just getting started in FileMaker and you can purchase that directly from the FileMaker web site at www.filemaker.com.
