THE ORIGINAL QUESTION
How do I retrieve records of people that have not had an entry for over one year?

INTRODUCING THE MAX FUNCTION
The Max function is used to return the highest value in a related field or repeating field. The max function can be used for text, number and date based data. An example of the max function in use for a number result could be a relationship between a customer record and their invoices. If the maximum invoice amount is over $1,000, they qualify for a special promotion. An example of the max function in use for a date result could be a relationship between a customer record and their invoices. If the maximum invoice date is less than one year old, they qualify for a special promotion.

SIMPLIFYING YOUR SOLUTION
I think all we need to do is create a calculation that returns the maximum related date and then you can simply perform a find for records less than one year old. The find can use the Date function with the Get(CurrentDate) function within the Date function for the Month, Day and Year parameters. For the year, we will want the current year minus 1 and that gets us last years date.
