By default, portals are not the most printer friendly objects in the FileMaker universe. I've even heard people say “Portals were designed for viewing related data, not printing.” I'm not sure that I entirely agree with that viewpoint but it is true that portal printing can have quirks.
The first time you print a layout that contains a portal, you don’t expect any problems and you may not have any. However if you have a scrollable portal and you would need to scroll down in the portal to see all the rows, then these rows you need to scroll to see will not print by traditional methods. By traditional, I simply mean by going under the File menu and choosing print ... or ... using the Print keyboard shortcut.
To print the data in the portal rows unseen before scrolling, you will need to apply the aid of ScriptMaker. In this series of discussions, we cover many of the different options for printing portals. Hopefully this may address any portal printing woes you have or may encounter in the future.
